Buick Envision 20T: 125kW/250Nm 1.5L variant coming to China

The new Buick Envision 20T will become the entry-level variant for the brand’s mid-size SUV when it goes on sale some time in April throughout China.

Taking a leaf out of the European’s playbook for confusing models names, the new Buick Envision 20T is actually powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder direct injection petrol engine.

This motor generates 125kW (168hp) and 250Nm (184 lb-ft) from its small displacement. Buyers can choose between front- or all-wheel drive.

The 20T can be ordered with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It comes standard with automatic engine stop/start. Fuel economy is said to be 6.6L/100km (35.6 US mpg) for the 20T FWD model.

The new 20T will below the existing Envision 28T, which has a 2-litre DI 4-cylinder turbo turning out 191kW (256hp) and 353Nm (260 lb-ft).

According to GM, the Envision has been averaging around 10,000 units per months since it went on sale in October 2014.

Reports indicate that the Envision will go on sale from around 2016 in US. It will also be sold in Europe as an Opel.
