Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe concept to fill another niche

The Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Concept previews very faithfully the look of the upcoming GLC-Class “Coupe” SUV.

The new “coupe SUV” has been designed to look like a scaled down version of the GLE Coupe. GLC Coupe Concept rides on 21-inch alloy wheels on 255/50 and 285/45 tires.

It also features the smaller than practical side mirrors and utter lack of door handles that many concepts now use. Out the rear, the GLC Coupe features stacked tailpipes like those used on Lexus F models.

Under the hood there’s a twin-turbo direct injection V6 with 270kW (367hp) and 520Nm (384 lb-ft) hooked up to a 9-speed automatic and 4Matic permanent all-wheel drive.

The production GLC Coupe will be based on the new generation GLC-Class, which will replace the GLK-Class. Given the dimensions of the concept, the new crossover will be larger than before in almost every dimension, except maybe height.
