Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo concept pays tribute to 787B

Mazda has unveiled the LM55 Vision Gran Turismo concept car, which will be made available via an update to the Gran Turismo game on PlayStation.

According to Mazda, the LM55 Vision Gran Turismo concept (above) mixes together the company’s current Kodo styling theme with a homage to the 787B race car (below) that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991.

Neither Mazda nor Polyphony Digital have yet to mention what powertrain the LM55 uses, except to say that its “advanced drivetrain technology that offers the epitome of power, efficiency and durability and the result is an exceptional power to weight ratio exceeding that of most cars in its class”.

In Mazda’s words, the LM55 “barely tips the scale with lightweight, carbon fibre components, including a monocoque chassis clad in striking atmospheric-white paint”.

The Mazda LM55 Vision Gran Turismo is the latest in a long string on virtual concept cars developed by automakers from across the world for the 15th anniversary of the Gran Turismo racing game on PlayStation.
