The 2016 Audi A3 e-tron 204hp/258 lb-ft (152kW/350Nm) plug-in hybrid has been priced from US$37,990, up to US$46,800.
The A3 e-tron has a 1.4-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine with an electric motor, lithium-ion batteries, and a 6-speed S-tronic (dual-clutch) transmission driving the front wheels.
The 1.4-liter TFSI motor makes 148hp/184 lb-ft (110kW/250Nm), while the electric motor makes 101hp (75kW). The 8.8kWh lithium-ion battery enables an EV driving range of 31mi (50km).
Three trims are avaiable: US$37,990 Premium, US$42,000 Premium Plus, and the US$46,800 Prestige. The car qualifies for a federal tax credit of US$4,168.
