2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE63: Family SUV gets bruising turbo V8

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG GLE63 has 4L twin-turbo V8 with a small temporary boost available from an integrated starter motor.


The standard GLE63 has 420kW (571hp) between 5,750 and 6,500 rpm, and 750Nm (553 lb-ft) between 2,250 and 5,000rpm. The GLE63 S has a more powerful version of the same engine with 450kW (612hp) between 5,750 and 6,500rpm, and 850Nm (627 lb-ft) between 2,500 and 4,500rpm.

Both the GLE63 and GLE63 S have AWD, a 9-speed auto, and 16kW (22hp) starter-alternator motor for short bursts.

The GLE63 has a 0-100km/h time of 4s, while the GLE63 S needs only 3.8s. The top speed of the GLE63 is 250km/h (155mph), and the GLE63 S is limited to 280km/h (174mph).
