2021 Mazda BT-50 vs Isuzu D-Max: Differences & changes compared

Mazda has switched its BT-50 from a Ford partnership to a Isuzu one. See how it compares to the D-Max in this side by side comparison.

After many generations Mazda's pickup truck is now based on the Isuzu D-Max. All the chassis and basic body is done by Isuzu, but Mazda has designed a new exterior with slimmer headlights, classier grille, and smoother details.

Even the external door skins are different (Mazda has smooth surfaces, while the Isuzu has a big wedge cut into the lower section.

The shoulder lines are different (especially around the rear fender), and there are different taillight and tailgate designs. The D-Max is available in an offroader spec with wheel arch extensions and tougher styling.

Mazda has also changed the design of the dashboard, although all the essentials (infotainment, instrument cluster, HVAC) are the same. The Isuzu has bright silver plastic for fake metal, but Mazda largely avoids this.
