2018 Volvo V60 vs XC60: Sibling differences compared side by side

Both the Volvo V60 and XC60 are now in their second generation. We compare the wagon and the SUV side by side to see how different or similar they are to each other.

The new V60 wagon and XC60 SUV are both clearly penned by the same design team, but the two cars have unique exterior panels.

Both the V60 and XC60 use a shortened version of the SPA platform, which first debuted on the S90/V90/XC90 models. The XC60, obviously, has a much taller ride height and roof, but also features sharper creases, a shorter rear overhang, and a shorter distance between the front axle and the firewall.

While the XC60 looks a little stubby, the V60 has a longer, lither and sportier style to it.

Differences are harder to spot inside. The XC60 and V60 look as though they share the same dashboard and switchgear. Many of the elements for the door panels also look to be the same.

XC60
There's a strong family look shared by both vehicles. The XC60, as you'd expect, has a taller grille, and its front bumper is less aggressive and wedge-shaped.

The resemblance at the rear is strong. The two look to have the same tail-lamps, although they're both probably subtly different.

Each car can be specified with different grille treatments, depending on the trim level and whether the R-Design package is used. The V60 version of the slatted chrome grille has a distinct concave shape.

Again, the rear seats look to be identical. The XC60 should offer more dangle space of legs, and more head room.
