2017 Seat Ateca Cupra: 286hp (213kW) SUV being considered

Seat is actively considering a Cupra version of its Ateca small SUV with a 286hp (213kW) 2-liter turbo I4 from the Leon Cupra.

Sources have told Autocar that Seat is looking to extend its hot Cupra line to its SUV range. Currently the Ateca is the only SUV in Seat’s range, but it’s expected to be the brand’s top seller, and it plays in the biggest SUV segment in Europe.

Seat is also planning a sub-Ateca SUV for next year, and a 7-seat SUV for 2020, but are less likely to get the Cupra treatment.

If the Ateca Cupra is approved, it will go on sale in 2017, and will have a 2-liter turbo I4 from the Leon Cupra. It might be tuned slightly differently, but output will be around 286hp (213kW).
