2017 Cadillac ATS price cut by $1000, 2.5L I4 dropped

The 2017 Cadillac ATS range has dropped the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine in favor of just the 2-liter turbo I4 and 3.6-liter V6.

According to Automotive News, the 2017 Cadillac ATS will get a price cut of between US$650 and US$1,100 depending on the trim level. To go along with the price cut, specification levels will be increased.

The 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder gas engine has been dropped from the range, with the 2-liter turbo I4 now the standard engine. By dropping the 2.5, the entry price of the ATS range has actually increased by around US$1,500, and is actually more expensive than the BMW 3-Series.

Since its launch in 2013, sales of the ATS have been poor, due to initial high prices and high inventories. Subsequent years suffered from poor resale brought about by higher incentives and attractive lease rates.
