2016 Opel GT concept: Small RWD coupe dreams of MX-5

The tiny two-seat Opel GT concept will debut at the Geneva Motor Show, and has the likes of the Mazda MX-5 and Toyota S-FR in its sights.

Under the long hood is a 1-liter 3-cylinder turbo gas engine with 107kW (145hp) and 205Nm (151 lb-ft). With weight below 1,000kg (2,200 lb), the Opel GT concept can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in under 8 seconds, and hit a top speed of 215km/h.

Power goes to the ground via the rear wheels a 6-speed sequential transmission with steering wheel shift paddles and mechanical differential lock.

Although the company keeps referring to the 1965 Opel Experimental GT, which led to the production 1968 Opel GT, there’s no guarantee that this GT concept will translate into a production car.
