Nissan Xterra to be discontinued after 2015 model year

The Nissan Xterra will reportedly be discontinued at the end of the 2015 model year.

Edmunds has learnt that the Xterra will be discontinued in the US after the 2015 model as it was deemed uneconomical to upgrade the vehicle to meet upcoming safety and emissions regulations.

Xterra sales have been falling, with just 16,505 Xterras sold in 2014, a drop of 7 percent over 2013.

The Xterra is currently powered by 4-litre V6, and is heavier and thirstier than car-based crossovers. The Xterra uses the F-Alpha body-on-frame platform, which underpins the Frontier, Armada and Titan.
