Toyota Previa

The Toyota Previa debuted in 1990 as a futuristic egg-shaped people mover with quirky mid-engine layout and RWD/AWD that optimised space efficiency and packaging.

Subsequent models, starting with 2000’s XR30 and XR40 models were more traditionally styled FWD and AWD cars based on the Camry.

What does the name Previa mean?

Previa is, according to Toyota EU, derived from previdenza, which in Italian means providence or foresight. The car was so named because of the futuristic shape egg shape and mid-engine, RWD layout of the original XR10 and XR20 models that debuted in 1990.
