Seat

Seat was founded in 1950 by Franco’s Spanish government and a clique of banks as part of a plan to modernise and industrialise the country’s economy after the ravages of the civil war.

Throughout its early years until the early 1980s, Seat produced models that were derived from contemporary Fiats. In 1982, Volkswagen, looking for a beachhead in Spain, purchased a stake in the company, ending in a full takeover in 1990.
