Volvo XC90 First Edition: 1,927 cars to be sold online

The first 1,927 second generation Volvo XC90s to roll down the production line will be sold online with a host of special features and badging.

The Volvo XC90 First Edition can be had with either the 239kW/400Nm T6-badged supercharged and turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine or the 168kW/470Nm D5 4-cylinder twin-turbo diesel. Both drive the wheels through an 8-speed automatic, although only the T6 is noted to have all-wheel drive.

Other standard features on the First Edition include adjustable air suspension, 21-inch alloy wheels, black exterior paint job, automated emergency braking, run-off road protection, heated and cooled electronically adjustable front seats, heated outboard second row seats, and power operated third row seats.

A 19-speaker 1400W Bowers & Wilkins sound system is linked to a tablet-style high resolution touchscreen. There will also be First Edition badging on the tailgate and sill plates etched with the car’s production number.

Why 1,927 units? That’s the year Volvo was founded.

The Volvo XC90 First Edition goes on sale online on the Volvo Cars website on 3 September, at 4pm Central European Time .
