Tata Motors, part of India’s sprawling Tata Group, was founded in 1945 to make locomotives. It wasn’t until 1991 that it made its first car, the Safari.
Outside of India, Tata Motors is most famous for being the parent of Jaguar Land Rover, and also the super low cost Nano.
