Lexus CT may get second generation by 2021 despite popularity of SUVs

The Lexus CT may be given a second generation, although there’s no rush, Pascal Ruch, the company’s European chief, has said.

“The size of the segment the CT competes in is still very significant,” Ruch told Autocar.

“At the moment, I see the UX as delivering additional volume, not necessarily replacing the CT. We’ve just updated the CT, so we have at least two more years of sales to make an evaluation from. There is no rush to make a decision.”

The Lexus CT is now the oldest model in the range, having made its debut back in 2010. The CT accounts for around 10,000 of Lexus’ 75,000 yearly sales in Europe, and importantly 75% of its customers are new to the Lexus brand.
