Citroen C5 axed from UK range due to poor sales

The Citroen C5 sedan and wagon has been dropped from the UK range due to slow sales for the executive-class car, with just 237 sold in 2015.

With so few of the pretty and large sedans and wagons sold in Great Britain, Citroen UK has decided to drop the car from its lineup, according to Autocar.

Thanks to luxury brands moving downmarket, sales of mainstream executive class cars have been shrinking in the UK for most of the last decade.

Autocar notes that 45,502 first generation C5s were sold in the UK between 2001 and 2004. Between 2008 and 2015, just 17,105 of the second generation have been sold.

It’s unknown if Citroen will develop a successor for the C5, and even if it does, it might not be sold in Europe, with sales limited to China.
