Cadillac Escala etymology: What does its name mean?

The Cadillac Escala concept is said to preview the design that will be used in the next batch of Cadillac vehicles, but what does its name mean?

According to Cadillac, Escala is Spanish for scale, and it’s so named because the concept car is a “larger, more elite and expressive companion to the recently launched 2016 Cadillac CT6“.

Powered by a new 4.2-litre twin-turbo V8, and at almost 5.35m (210.5 inches) long, the Escala is a whopping 150+ millimetres (6 inches) longer than the already sizeable CT6.
