Aston Martin CEO will personally inspect first 1000 DB11 engines

Andy Palmer, CEO of Aston Martin, will personally inspect the first 1000 Aston Martin DB11 coupes in an effort to allay customer fears about build quality.

In a Twitter exchange, Palmer (@AndyatAston) posted a photo of a V12 engine that he had signed off and saying, “Only 1000 Aston Martin DB11 V12’s to be made with this particular inspectors plaque!”

Ed Callow (@torquespeak) asked, “Andy is that a typo, or are you genuinely doing the final inspection of 1,000 engines yourself? How long does it take?”

“not a typo. I will personally inspect the first 1000 customer cars. About 12cars a day starting 6pm until they are done daily,” Palmer responded.

“everyone needs more than 2 hours! 4/5 hours minimum to at least function acceptably,” Matt Foers (@mattfoers) chimed in.

“I’m not sure-sometimes I’ll do 12, but when the adrenaline gets going, 2 is good-maybe I’ll sleep at xmas,” Palmer concluded.
