2018 Mazda 6 AWD appears on NHTSA website, is it coming to the USA?

Crash test data for a 2018 Mazda 6 AWD model has appeared on the NHTSA (National Highway Transport Safety Administration) website pointing (potentially) to exciting new model for the midsize sedan.

Motor Trend spotted the listing on the NHTSA website, but Mazda USA has refused to comment on the matter.

At the moment it only sells the Mazda 6 sedan in the USA with FWD. The company recently unveiled a new 2.5-liter turbo version of the 6 with 250hp/310 lb-ft (186kW/420Nm), but this engine can’t be paired with AWD.

If the Mazda 6 AWD is sold in the USA, it will give the slow selling sedan an edge over the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord, which are FWD only.
