2018 Ford Mustang GT: V8 in drag strip mode has 0-60mph under 4s

With its new Drag Strip Mode on, the 2018 Ford Mustang GT facelift has a 0-60mph time of under 4 seconds, faster than a US$94,000 Porsche 911.

The new 2018 Mustang GT is the fastest and most powerful ever, and has a more powerful 5-liter V8 with 460hp (343kW) and 420 lb-ft (569Nm).

The 0-60mph time of under 4 seconds was set with the optional 10-speed automatic transmission, and the Performance Pack, which includes custom designed Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires.

Drag Strip Mode makes sure “engine torque doesn’t drop when you’re shifting,” and optimizes traction, torque and has “adaptive shift-scheduling algorithms”.

The 4-cylinder Mustang EcoBoost isn’t slow either. The 2.3-liter turbo I4 has more power, and now has 310hp (231kW) and 350 lb-ft (475Nm). With Drag Strip Mode on, a 10-speed and the Performance Package, the Mustang EcoBoost has a 0-60mph of under 5 seconds.

The 2018 Ford Mustang goes on sale in the fall of 2017.
