2018 Buick Enclave vs 2013-2017: 2nd vs 1st generation differences

The Buick Enclave has entered a new generation after 10 years. See the differences between the two generations in this side-by-side photo comparison

2017 Buick Enclave - front1st gen F/L
The second-generation Buick Enclave rides on the new C1XX platform shared with the Chevrolet Traverse and the now smaller GMC Acadia. Unlike the other two, there's a very clear familial and evolutionary look to the new Enclave. That's not to say that it's bad, though.

The second-generation Enclave very clearly bears all the hallmarks of the joint Buick/Opel design language, with round features, expressive use of chrome, and thin details.

Like the exterior, the dashboard has a very heavy Opel influence, despite the fact that the Enclave at over 5m (~197 inches) long was never intended to wear Opel badges. The detailing and the technology package are big step up from the first-generation Enclave, which debuted way back in 2007.

2014 Buick Enclave - seating layout1st gen F/L
Unlike the similarly sized Traverse, the second-generation Buick Enclave is only available with a 2+2+3 seating layout, limiting passenger capacity to seven people. Clearly captain's chairs in the second row are seen as a must-have luxury option.

Again the Buick Enclave is only available with a 3.6-liter V6 engine. Power and torque have been upped to 225kW (302hp) and 350Nm (260 lb-ft). A new 9-speed auto is standard, and buyers can choose between front-wheel drive, and an all-wheel drive system with twin-clutch rear differential.

In both generations, there are fold flat seats, and lots of interior room for passengers and cargo.
