2017 Mercedes-AMG GT C Roadster: More power from 4L twin-turbo V8

Accompanying the new R190 Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster is a new 410kW (557hp) GT C variant that sits between the GT S and the GT R.

In addition to revealing a new R190 roadster variant of the C190 GT coupe, Mercedes-AMG has also unveiled a new GT C trim with a more powerful version of the 4-liter twin-turbo V8.

Both the GT and GT C Roadster have an electric folding canvas roof that can go up or down in 11 seconds, and at speeds up to 50km/h (31mph).

The 4-liter twin-turbo V8 in the GT C has 410kW (557hp) between 5,750 and 6,750rpm, and 680Nm (502 lb-ft). The GT C has a 0 to 100km/h time of 3.7 seconds, and a top speed of 316km/h.

That’s more than the regular GT, which as 350kW (476hp) at 6,000rpm, and 630Nm (465 lb-ft) between 1,700 and 5,000rpm.

It’s also more than the GT S coupe, which has 375kW (510hp), and 650Nm (479 lb-ft).

The new GT C sits under the lighter, stripped out GT R, which has 430kW (585hp), and 700Nm (516 lb-ft).

Like the GT R, the GT C has active rear wheel steering, electronically controlled rear axle locking differential, electronic limited-slip rear differential, and AMG Ride Control sport suspension with adaptive damping.

The GT C has 265/35 tires and 19-inch wheels at the front, and 305/30 tires and 20-inch wheels at the rear.
