2017 Ford GT: First models roll off Multimatic’s Canadian production line (video)

The first of the second generation Ford GT super coupes have rolled off Multimatic’s production line in Markham, Ontario, Canada.

Although the new supercar is designed by Ford Performance, it’s built by racing and carbonfiber technology specialist Multimatic. That’s why supply is limited, and there were at least 7,000 applications for 500 cars spread over two model years.

Multimatic also made the Aston Martin Vulcan and One-77.

The first production Ford GT will go to Ford’s chairman Bill Ford Jr, and the second will go to Ford’s CEO Mark Fields.

The Ford GT has a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 with around 600hp (447kW). Power goes to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
