2017 Ford Focus RS drift modes straight into a cliff face

The driver of a new third-generation Ford Focus RS has been caught on camera drifting his new ride straight into a cliff face in upstate New York.

The driver was taking part in a NY ST Club run on public roads in the Catskills near the town of New Paltz. As the other drivers in convoy were turning into a parking area at a hairpin corner, the driver of the new RS decided this would be the perfect place to show off his car’s drift mode.

As you can see in the video above, it didn’t work out so well. Thankfully no-one was injured, the airbags went off, and the driver was promptly kicked out of the ST Club.

Let this be a warning for everyone: The presence of a drift mode button doesn’t mean it will always work, that you can do it without any skill, or that you should use it on public roads.
