2017 Buick GL8 minivan revealed: Launching in China late 2016

The third generation Buick GL8 minivan will be launched later this year and will go on sale in China in 2017 with new styling and an updated platform.

The third generation Buick GL8 will have an all new body with shorter front and rear overhangs, and a taller height. The dip in the belt line on the current minivan has been dropped, the new van has styling in line with the new Buick LaCrosse, and the company’s new look grille that’s shared with Opel.

There will also be a new “premium interior”, updated engines including a 2-liter turbo 4-cylinder, and independent rear suspension.

Although it looks all new, the GL8 will use an updated version of the current minivan’s SGM258 platform. It keeps the current minivan’s 3,088mm (121.6 inch) wheelbase.

In 2015, Buick sold 76,607 GL8 minivans in China, helping it to become China’s third largest vehicle brand.
