2017 BMW 5-Series Touring: G31 wagon not coming to America. Sad.

The new G31 BMW 5-Series Touring is better looking and more practical than the G30 sedan, but it won’t be coming to America as we love SUVs.

The 5-Series Touring has 570L (20.1 cu ft) of luggage space with the rear seats up, and 1,700L (60 cu ft) with the seats down.

Available in both RWD and AWD, the 5-Series wagon is available with a number of turbocharged gas and diesel engines.

  • 530i: 2-liter 4-cylinder gas with 185kW (252hp) and 350Nm (258 lb-ft). 0-100km/h in 6.5s.
  • 540i xDrive: 3-liter 6-cylinder gas with 250kW (340hp) and 450Nm (332 lb-ft). 0-100km/h 5.1s.
  • 520d: 2-liter 4-cylinder diesel with 140kW (190hp) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft). 0-100km/h in 8s.
  • 530d: 3-liter 6-cylinder diesel with 195kW (265hp) and 620Nm (457 lb-ft). 0-100km/h in 5.8s.

All are available with an 8-speed auto. The 520d has a standard 6-speed manual.

There’s also a 10.25-inch infotainment screen, head-up display, 40/20/40 split fold rear seats, opening rear windscreen, and hands free tailgate operation.

The 5-Series wagon goes on sale from June 2017, but it won’t be coming to the USA.
